Chasing the dragon
Every tray is a lesson that made it out alive. Not everything I make is perfect. But that is my dragon, and I will keep chasing it.
Every Showcase Tray starts as raw walnut and burl, gets carved, poured, sanded and finished by hand, then fitted with inserts shaped to your exact gear. There are failures and experiments on the way to every vision. What survives is the tray in front of you, and no two have ever matched.
When I make something for you, I am sharing something I really love. A culmination of lessons on a never ending journey of ideas, trial and error.

Tray questions, answered
What is a Showcase Tray?
A one of one EDC display tray carved by itisntdan from walnut, burl and resin, with custom inserts shaped to your knives and gear. Each one is inspired by the well-worn tools my dad left me, and no two are alike.
How is it different from the Layer Cake?
The Layer Cake is a smaller tray built from precision laser cut layers stacked like a cake. The Showcase Tray is carved from solid wood and resin, one at a time, so every pocket, pour and grain pattern is unique to that tray.
How does a tray find its owner?
One at a time, US only, and by invitation. When a tray comes off the bench the notify list hears first, and a direct link goes to the next person in line. Quantities are limited and they are currently sold out.
How do I get one?
Orders are by invitation only, with direct links from me when a tray is ready. Join the notify list and you will hear about the next one first. More trays soon.
More trays
soon.
When the next slab comes off the bench, the list finds out before anyone else.
